About Dr. Paul Miranda

I am a board-certified physician in both Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine, with more than 20 years of clinical experience — including years practicing emergency medicine. I have seen firsthand what happens when metabolic disease goes unaddressed. That is why I built Summit.

Long before I treated patients for metabolic disease, I struggled with weight myself. I have lived with obesity. I understand the frustration of doing everything right and still not seeing results. That is not a willpower problem. It is a biology problem — and it deserves a clinical solution.

In 2017, I began formally studying obesity medicine and became board-certified through the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Since then, I have dedicated my practice to understanding the full metabolic hormone axis — thyroid, cortisol, insulin sensitivity, sex hormones, and more — because treating weight without treating its underlying drivers is incomplete medicine.

At Summit, I personally review every application. I do not delegate that to an algorithm, a nurse queue, or a chatbot. If you are accepted, you are working with me.
